What is Pockets of Time book about?

Heidi finds herself trapped in a disturbing, supernatural world created by her abusive partner, Dan. Their relationship began with an intense attraction, but Dan quickly revealed himself to be a possessive, controlling, and violent man. Despite the red flags, Heidi remained committed to him, blinded by her love.

This parallel world, a pocket of time outside of normal reality, was originally a sanctuary created by a Native American tribe to escape genocide. However, Dan discovered the secret and manipulated his way into the tribe, eventually massacring them and establishing himself as a tyrannical ruler. He transforms the peaceful world into a nightmarish dystopia, creating a cult-like following of "demented" followers who engage in unspeakable acts of cruelty and depravity.

Heidi is forced to navigate this dark, twisted realm, witnessing Dan's horrific acts and struggling to maintain her own humanity. As she uncovers the history of the pocket world, she meets the spirit of the former Native American priestess, who reveals the delicate balance that once sustained this place. The priestess guides Heidi, imparting crucial information about the world's origins and the means to restore it.

Heidi must walk a fine line, feigning loyalty to Dan while secretly planning his downfall. She manipulates the demented hierarchy, strategically eliminating the strongest threats while protecting the innocent, including her own daughter, Arra, whom Dan believes is his. Heidi's maternal love for Arra becomes genuine, fueling her determination to cleanse this world of Dan's corruption.

Through harrowing experiences, Heidi is forced to confront her own capacity for violence, engaging in brutal acts to maintain her position of power and protect those she cares for. She forms unlikely alliances with the demented Sinn and the slave Alea, who share her desire to restore balance to the pocket world.

As Dan's grip on the realm begins to slip, his desperation and depravity escalate. Heidi orchestrates a final confrontation, summoning the priestess to pass judgment on Dan. In a chilling sequence, Dan is condemned to eternally relive the suffering he has inflicted, rapidly aging as he experiences the pain of his victims. With Dan's reign of terror ended, Heidi is gifted a moonstone pendant that allows her to freely travel between the pocket world and the real world, tasked with protecting this and other parallel realms.

In the aftermath, Heidi reunites with Alea, Sinn, and the children, including her own daughter Arra, in a hidden sanctuary. As the demented are eliminated and the land begins to heal, a sense of hope and peace returns to those who have endured Dan's cruelty. Heidi watches over the children, knowing that while some darkness may linger, the balance of this world has been restored, paving the way for a brighter future.
